Disney's Animated Classics

After Disney in 1937 completed Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the company has produced a long row of animated feature-lenght movies of which a number have been referred to as "Disney classics". Although the list has varied from time to time, especially in the 1980s - when e.g. the movie The Fox and the Hound first was said to be number 20, but four years later it was followed by The Black Cauldron, then officially number 25. Since then the list has been more stable though, so a certain consensus can be said to exist by now. The latest in the classics list is Wish, which has number 59.

In the 1990s Disney started to make animated feature-length movies in the studios that were producing the animated TV series. Most of these movies were made as Direct-to-video releases. These movies are not included in the movie lists of classics by Disney.
